RAINFALL DISASTER HITS MAFI KUMASE ELECTORAL AREA



A heavy rainfall, which lasted for an hour, displaced some residents and Electric Poles of Mafi Mebiawoe, Mafi Tsrinyikope, Mafi Nukportoe, and other communities at Mafi Kumase Electoral Area in the Central Tongu District of Volta Region today Wednesday 18th October, 2017.



The rainfall which started around 2pm also displaced two school buildings at Mafi Nukportoe (Comboni R/C Primary Block) and Mafi Tsrinyikope (E/P Kindergarten Block).

Some thatch houses in the affected communities were  destroyed while Kiosks, livestock and other valuables were carried away.



The Assembly Member of the Electoral Area, Hon. Amos Dormko Azanu is assessing the gravity of the disaster.

The Assembly Member told Dekdllis Media his office is hoarding the data for onward submission to the NADMO office in the district.



According to Hon. Azanu, the former (First) Assembly Member of Mafi Kumase Electoral Area and former Headmaster of Adidome Senior High School (Adisec) Presbyter H.A.K. Nyikplorkpo was displaced by the rain after a container landed on his building. A lot of casualties was recorded at Mafi Aburi.

A coconut tree also felt on number of houses in Mafi Mebiawoe and Mafi Kumase, He added.

He pleaded with residents affected with the disaster prone areas to relocate for their own safety. The Assembly Member further cautioned the affected residents against building on water ways.
