PRESS RELEASE: 2017/2018 NASPA - NATIONAL SERVICE SECRETARIAT

WAKE UP FROM THE SLUMBER AND PAY US OUR TRANSPORTATION ENTITLEMENTS; NATIONAL SERVICE SECRETARIAT

It is only in slumber can one forget his sense of duty and duty of care.

Supposedly the management of the National Service Scheme has been taken into slumber; a major reason they have forgotten their duty of care owned the 2017/2018 National Service Personnel, in the area of transportation payment.

With a big and good heart we accepted to serve our dear nation through the auspicious of the National Service Scheme, only to face the wrath and hard conditions of national service, from untimely allowance payment to inconsistency in  payment coupled with some undeserving challenges during the time of National Services.

We have endured the calamity, pain and agony, we have persisted in humility with the difficulties bemoaning us.

We were with high hope, thinking the end would be better, until the dawn of reality smashed us to the face, barely three months ago, we have successfully completed our mandatory National Service, and a new crop of victims have emerged some two months ago.

Where is our constitutional and mandatary transportation allowance?

We have waited for long and we demand from the authorities and Directors at all levels to give us tangible reasons why they haven't paid us till now, we want them to tell us whether they will pay the transportation or not, but not isn't an option in this case because it has been clearly established in the national services rules and regulations from which I  quote
Rules and Regulations number 6; "TRANSPORT Initial transport claims, from the hometowns to the service posts of service personnel posted to Ministries, Government Departments, and state-owned Tertiary Institutions, shall be paid by NSS at existing government rates (as announced by the Ministry of Roads and Transport).
After national service, transport claims of these service personnel from their service posts back to their hometowns shall also be borne by the Secretariat. These transport claims cover service personnel only (and may include two normal pieces of luggage, maximum).

Similarly, initial transport claims of national service personnel from their hometowns to their service posts and from their posts back to their hometowns after successful completion of national service for personnel posted to Statutory Boards & Corporations, Universities, Churches or quasi-church organisations & private companies shall be paid by their organisations from their own resources"

In our case we haven't been paid the initial transport fare from our respective hometowns to our places of service, but circumvention of the law, we demand the payment of our transportation from our places of service to our respective hometowns

Other than Directors working hard to furnish the NASPA Executives with authentic and credible information, they are busy claiming unwarranted ex-gratia up to a whopping sum of GH¢10, 000.00 (Ashanti Regional NSS Director)

Before anyone thinks we are using inappropriate means to solicit information and demand our entitlements; we would like to put it on records that we have made several attempts to get credible informations from the Regional NASPA Executives, but it appears very well that they equally lack information on the subject matter.

With the saying "A Nation Which Doesn't Celebrates Its Heroes Is Not Worth Dying For"

We will like to also alert all government agencies that we have moved away from the era where "Strike, Demonstration, and Public Protest is the only language they understand" hence entreat them to deploy expedient and effective ways of delivering their mandates.

We have given up to Friday 09/11/2018, to the authorities of the National Service Scheme to wake up from their slumber and fully pay us our transportation entitlements.

Because we have already incurred three months rent arrears  in anticipation and hope, awaiting this transportation to aid us move smoothly to our respective destinations and we don't intend to incur more rent debt, not to talk about feeding and other expenses.

We cannot even substantiate nor assimilate the reason behind this undue delay even after paying the September allowances to the newly posted National Service Persons after its unwarranted delay.

Pay us our transportation now, even if it's 10 pesewas.

Long Live National Service Scheme!!!

Long Live Ghana!!!

But The Right Things Must Always Be Done Timely!!!
