President John Dramani Mahama has promised an
end to the country’s power crisis which has
plunged the entire country into a frustrating
power rationing system.
He made the pronouncement when he joined
thousands of congregants at the Perez Chapel in
Accra for their 31st watch night service.
President Mahama said 2015 will the last year of
darkness in the nation.
“It will be one in which we banished darkness
from our land, and put an end to ‘dumsor’
forever, I knew that would be an interesting
prophetic pronouncement.”
The President also called on Ghanaians to be
optimistic and eschew sluggishness at work.
Mr. Mahama said he will be guided by his call to
serve and create a prosperous nation for the
present and future generations.
The President had early on in his New Year's
message to the nation, described 2014 as a year
that witnessed several challenges but which
were surmounted with a lot of courage.
He asked Ghanaians to be hopeful because 2015
will be a good one.
Meanwhile, millions of Ghanaians kept vigil last
night as they crossed over into the New Year
2015- most of them attending church services.
At Perez Chapel International, Presiding Bishop
Charles Agyinasare in his sermon declared 2015,
a season of fruitfulness.
He had a strong message for the country as it
gradually draws closer to the 2016 elections.
“It is our season of fruitfulness…no politician
should take the money that is supposed to be
used for development of deprived areas for their
pocket and personal use.”
He further advised politicians to be committed to
politics of ideas in their discourse and avoid
politics of insults, reiterating that politics is not
a do or die affair.
At the Christian Action Faith Ministry, its
founder Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams,
called on Christians to seek the face of God for
His will to be manifested in the lives this year.
“God has in his hands the outcome and the end
of 2015 so it doesn’t matter what agenda the
enemy has, God’s agenda will override and
overturn the enemy’s agenda.
“It doesn’t matter how bad, how difficult and
complicated your life has been, please believe
that in the midst of all that complication and
mess God’s original agenda has not changed, and
all it requires of you and I is to bring ourselves
into alignment with that original intent and
agenda.”
At the International Central Gospel Church,
General Overseer Dr. Mensah Otabil called on
Ghanaians to make 2015 the year of perfection
and not accept mistakes.
Addressing a congregation at the Accra Sports
Stadium in the annual watch night service
dubbed Crossover, Pastor Mensah Otabil said the
nation must move towards facing the challenges
not accept excuses.
“I believe if this nation embraces perfection,
we will not tolerate the problems we tolerate
because if we decide we are going to be better,
we will not stay where we are and excuse
ourselves with our own problems.
“We will improve our communities, improve our
neighborhoods, we will stop selling food on the
ground and making human beings buy food on the
ground as if we don’t have the image of God.
“Perfection means we have to improve every
area of our lives. And I believe that in 2015 God
will perfect that which concerns us,” he prayed.
